A Quick Reference for Oklahoma’s Trafficking Weights and Punishments

Oklahoma’s trafficking statute may be the most confusing statute on the books. There were a couple of holes in the statute, but those were fixed recently at the legislature thanks to the work of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and the Oklahoma District Attorney Association.  Despite the fixes, the statute (which basically prescribes punishment based on weight) is still confusing.  For a recent legal update, I prepared this one-page reference which I am relatively confident captures the weights and ranges of punishment for “simple” trafficking and aggravated trafficking (some drugs do not have an aggravated component).

This reference is available at my website under the resources tab.  I hope it helps to simplify the weights and punishments where you don’t have to get out a slide rule to figure out what’s what in the trafficking statute.
